Radical Attraction - A Law of Attraction Story

Radical Attraction is the story of Steve's adventures which involve in the visitation of difficulty and disaster. Through these disasters, Steve meets the mysterious Gus. A gentelman of suspect fashion sense he takes Steve under his wing and introduces him to the Law of Attraction.

It seems Gus has a "secret" system  which utilises the Law of Attraction and he begins to teach Steve how to create the things he desires in his life.

In this chapter, Steve goes back to basics and makes new intentions for his life. Then he makes a disturbing discovery

Chapter 10

On the way home to make breakfast for the kids, Steve thought about how uptight he had been the previous week and realised that because of his anxiety he had completely forgotten about "thinking what he wanted", intending, and his checking his expectations. He thought about how things seemed to flow and how good things came to him when used these tools. This was in complete contrast to the week he had just endured.

"Right!" He thought. "Back to basics! What do I intend?"

"I intend to.... I intend to be calm and positive." A good start.

"I intend to....I intend to create a great life." Not bad.

"I intend to be a great person!" Yeah!

"I intend to give my kids the best life I can!" Excellent.

Steve recognised and enjoyed the boost in how he felt created by these feelings. Before he knew it he was pulling into the driveway at Joy's house. Stephanie, Joel and Joy were just getting up as he walked in the door. Steve rustled up some of his "famous" scrambled eggs on toast which they all ate hungrily. The kids asked where he had been and Steve responded with a half-truth. That, he had been to the park. The four of them talked about how it might be time for them to return home, as things had seemed to have calmed down. Although Joy had enjoyed having them it was agreed that it was time to return some normality to their lives and so it was decided that on Sunday they would go back to living at home with Steve.

The rest of the day was spent ferrying the kids to their sporting fixtures and catching up on a spot of shopping in preparedness for their return. Saturday night was a farewell dinner of charcoal chicken and chips from one of the local shops followed by some DVDs.

Morning came and the kids and Steve packed up all their belongings and headed home. Joy seemed a bit teary about their departure, but she put on a brave face as she kissed them all goodbye.

As they were about to turn onto the main road that took them the two suburbs to their house, a little red car zoomed past. The hairs stood up on the back of Steve's neck as once again recognised the silhouette of the driver. It was Jenny!

He took a risk and accelerated into a small space in the traffic, which was barley big enough for them to fit.

"No!!!" Screamed Stephanie as cars swerved to miss them, as they made their radical entrance into the traffic.

Blaring of horns followed. But Steve didn't care. He was just focussed on that little red car!

"What are you doing Dad?" Yelled Joel.

"Just be quiet." Ordered Steve.

It was now about six cars in front. Steve could see nothing but the red car. Soon its left hand indicator began to flash.

"What are you doing Dad?" Called Stephanie.

"Just sit there and be quiet!" Retorted Steve in an aggressive tone, which silenced the kids very quickly.

The red car made the left turn, which took it into the estate where Mike lived.

"I've got you this time." Muttered Steve.

He accelerated hard to the corner and flung it sideways, throwing the kids hard against their seatbelts.

"Stop!" They screamed.

This made no impression on Steve. He was a man on a mission!

"Wait till I get my hands on you." Thought Steve. Anger and resentment welling up inside him as images of all the damage Jenny had done filled his mind.

Once again he found himself chasing the little red car in the maze of streets that made up the "new" estate. The tires squealed as he pushed the car round the sweeping bends. The aggressive cornering was paying dividends as he was closing the distance on the red car. The silhouette of Jenny was now quite defined and she seemed oblivious of her husband's pursuit.

They were now coming up to the street where Mike lived. Jenny was now only 50 meters ahead. Steve was surprised to see the car turn into Mike's street. Steve pushed the accelerator as hard as he dared. He was determined he was not going to lose her this time.

He was rapidly approaching the corner.Grimaces of fear were stuck to Joel and Stephanie's faces. He jammed his foot on the brake, forcing the tires to skid. He was just about to flick the car sideways to enter the street when he saw Mike's house, the second house in the street. In the driveway going into the garage was the red car driven by Jenny!

Steve's head exploded with shock. He let the car drift straight on past the corner, straightened the wheels to point down the road and punched the accelerator and sped away from what seemed a terrible discovery.

How could it be? It couldn't be? Could it? Could Jenny really be living with Mike!

Emotions swept over him. It felt live a sledgehammer smashing at his very being. Had both his wife and best friend betrayed him?

"Dad! What are you doing?" Asked Stephanie.

"Dad! Where are we going?" Joined in Joel.

"Sorry! Sorry! I didn't know what is I doing." Steve mumbled. "Sorry I thought it was somebody I used to know."

He was amazed that they hadn't picked that it was Jenny in the car and he was even more surprised that they hadn't seen her drive into Mike's house, but at this stage he counted this a blessing. Maybe it was because they were being thrown all over the back seat as the car moved around wildly.

Thanking his good fortune, he continued down the road until it crossed the main road. Here he turned left and headed home, his head spinning at a million miles an hour.

What should he do now? Should he hire a hit man or should he ring the police?

Whilst wild thoughts spun through his head, he slowly made his way home. The kids were quiet in the back. Maybe they were thankful that Steve was back to his normal sedate driving style.

Arriving home, they carried all their belongings back into the house. Then Steve suggested the kids flop in front of the TV for while he made a stiff cup of coffee over which to contemplate his next move. Still overwhelmed by the thought that his wife and his best friend were shacked up together and seemingly had made a number of attempts on his life.

As he sat at the kitchen table, he played with the detective's business card, which he had retrieved from his wallet. Should he ring? What else could he do? What if he went over and knocked on the door? He quickly discounted this, as they had been prepared to kill him, so there was no telling what they might do.

So he rang Detective Jones and was soon detailing what had happened and what he had discovered. Detective Jones listened intently and took Mike's address from Steve and told him to stay at home. He would be in touch.

It seems that Steve had now put some very big wheels in motion.

Radical Attraction - A Law of Attraction Story

Chapter 9

Radical Attraction is the story of Steve's adventures which involve in the visitation of difficulty and disaster. Through these disasters, Steve meets the mysterious Gus. A gentelman of suspect fashion sense he takes Steve under his wing and introduces him to the Law of Attraction.

It seems Gus has a "secret" system  which utilises the Law of Attraction and he begins to teach Steve how to create the things he desires in his life.

In this chapter Steve feels the enormous impact of his wife's treachery and the has an unexpected rendezvous which wrecks his world. He then follows his feelings to continue his lessons with the amazing Gus.

I hope you like it!

Let me know what you think.

Gray.

The next week was a total drag for Steve. He felt totally overwhelmed by the revelation that Jenny had taken a life insurance policy on his life worth $5 million. He couldn’t reconcile with the fact that she was willing to sacrifice his life for her own financial gain. He wrestled constantly with the thought. Round and round. He just couldn’t accept this thought. Anger brewed inside him as he joylessly went about his life.

Work just seemed a mire of problems. Problem after problem. Disgruntled customer after disgruntled customer. No new deals. No joy and fun. He struggled with dealing with the kids and their situation. He even got short tempered with Joy, which he never did and which was totally undeserved.

Life was now a struggle. An uphill battle where nothing came easily and joy and happiness were absent. The chats with Gus in the park were now a distant memory and his only expectations were of hard times and difficulty.

Friday night arrived and the week had been free of further attempts on his life and the mundane was beginning to become the norm once again. He trudged out of the office, feeling glad to escape the ugliness of what he had to deal with and looked forward some down time with his kids. Heading for home he made a detour to the Video store and picked up 5 DVDs on a $10 special. Fun and adventure for the kids and a couple of action flicks for him, as he planned to stay over at Joy’s for the night.

Reversing out of the car park at the shopping strip which contained the Video Store he noticed a familiar profile sitting in the driver’s seat of a small red car, which had stopped at pedestrian lights that abutted the shopping strip. He couldn’t believe his eyes so he took another long look. It couldn't be. But it was!

It was Jenny!

As the lights turned green, he forced his way into the line of traffic, waving a hand of thanks to the kind woman who had allowed him to join the line of traffic. Focussing on the red car, which was 5 cars ahead, Steve tried to work out how he could catch up, as the road was only single lane.

The traffic moved steadily out of the shopping precinct and up the hill to a number of residential areas, including the one where Steve lived, which was to the right. Suddenly the left hand indicator on the red car began to flash. Turning his left hand indicator on he prepared to follow, totally unconcerned about whether Jenny realise he was following her.

Steve made the corner, which took them into what was one of the newer estates in the area, but Steve knew the roads a little, as it was near to where Mike lived. The estate had been designed almost like a maze, with no straight roads and lots of junctions, many of which led to dead end courts. If you had GPS, this was the place to use it!

As he turned the corner he could see Jenny making a right hand turn. He stepped on the gas to try and catch her. He made the corner only to see the tail of the red car go left. Steve cursed the designer of these roads. Nice and straight would have been so much easier. He screamed up to the corner and threw the car left, but the red car was already out of sight.

“Damn!” He cursed and made his way slowly up the street, stopping at the intersections, his eyes straining for the little red car. Nothing!

He spent the next twenty minutes going up and down each of the intersecting streets in the hope of spotting the little red car. It was to no avail. It seemed to have disappeared into thin air! Frustrated, he headed for Joy’s for the planned night of Fish and Chips and DVD’s.

His head was spinning with the thought that Jenny was still around! And living nearby!

The evening with Joy and the kids was fun, but again he kept the Life Insurance policy along with today’s sighting of Jenny, a secret. He intended to ring the detective in the morning to let him know of his sighting of murderous wife.

In the morning he crept out of the house early before Joy and the kids had woken. His curiosity was killing him, so he took the car down to the area where he had last seen Jenny. He drove up and down for about an hour desperately hoping he might find the little red car that had disappeared. He even drove passed Mike’s a couple of times, the blinds still down and looking a bit strange.

As he drove, some of the tension that had built during this difficult week abated and he began to relax a little and feel a little less strained. Soon that strange feeling that he had had a couple times the week before began to resonate through him and soon he found himself heading for the park once again, expecting to meet Gus.

The park was quiet with only a couple of people taking morning walks, but this didn’t deter the ducks and swans from clucking and squawking as they went about foraging for breakfast.

Steve headed for the usual bench but the feeling he had was different. He kept feeling that this was not the right place, so once he reached the bench he kept walking along the path as it followed the curve on the lake. Soon he reached a junction in the path. Left around the lake or right down towards a sign said were “Ornamental Gardens.

“Mmm. Right. It definitely feels right!” He thought.

So turning right, he walked towards a group of three gardens located at the bottom edge of the park. As he got closer he could see three distinctive entrances. Each with a sign announcing what type of garden lay beyond. There was an English Rose Garden, Water Garden and a Japanese Garden. He stood at the junction of paths that led to the gardens. He stood quietly for a moment.

“What do I feel? Mmmm.” Steve contemplated. “Japanese! Definitely Japanese!”

And with that he headed into the Japanese Garden. At the entrance, he found a corridor created by shrubs and an assortment of flowering plants, which made a beautiful entray. After about 20 metres this opened into an open to area, which contained a rock garden made of some large moss covered rocks arranged in a seemingly random pattern around the perimeter with of gravel in the centre ,which was graded and graded into a series of concentric circles. Along the right and running through the back of the garden was a babbling stream. The tranquillity of this area exuded was inspiring. As Steve surveyed the area he noticed a familiar character sitting on a large rock in the back corner. It was Gus!

Gus was sitting calmly with his eyes shut, his breathing was barely perceptible. Suddenly his eyes opened and he smiled. You couldn't miss him! Orange jacket. Pink shirt. Yellow tie. White trousers matched with fawn boat shoes. Steve's first thought was OMG! Another fashion disaster. Gus seemed to be totally ignorant of the concept of colour co-ordination!

“Hi Steve.”

“Hi Gus! You’re not at the park bench today!”

“No, not today. This is my other favourite haunt.”

“It’s very serene.”

“Absolutely! That’s why I come here. It’s quiet and calm and so I find it’s a great place to meditate.”

“You meditate?”

“Why sure. You make it sound like something evil!”

“All the people I've met who meditate have been a bit weird.”

“Well, many years ago I found life would make me feel angry and stressed. It was full of tedium and there was just no joy. Things that were meant to make me feel happy, didn’t. That was when I started coming to park to try and calm down and escape from the angst and stress.”

“You’ve been coming to the park for years?’

“Why sure. It’s great to get out in the fresh air and stroll the paths and watch the ducks.”

“You’re right! It can be pleasant.”

“Anyway. Not long after I started coming to the park, I met a woman who I would see most days. Often when I came she’d be sitting upright, who eyes closed, looking serene and calm.”

“Like when I found you.”

“Exactly. Anyway. One day she was walking out of the same exit as I and I asked her why she always calm and serene. And she told me she came to the park to meditate most days because it made her feel good and allowed to live a better life.”

“ Certainly good reasons.”

“The idea stuck with me for sometime and then one day I was in the public library doing some research and there on the desk I was a book. It was like “Meditation for Dummies” and it made it look simple and easy and simple. It being there seemed like some sort of sign. Synchronisity some would say.“

“Don’t a lot religions and spiritualists meditate? I mean, I have read things in the paper and on TV, and it showed it took some people years to master meditation.”

“You’re right. There are some types of meditation that are difficult and technical, with the aims to achieve a state of bliss or altered state. But I wasn’t really looking for this. So I took the book home and started trying to find a few minutes each day to practice. Soon I found that the days I meditated I was happier and coped better.”

“Really?”

“Really! So I started make it a daily habit. I read some other books which had more ideas on how to do it and so over time I’ve developed my own style which I really enjoy and ensure I do it everyday.”

“Wow! It’s that important?”

“It’s that important! Speaking of important, how are you?”

“Not great.” Answered Steve forlornly.

“That’s no good.”

“No. It’s not.”

He explained to Gus his discovery of the life insurance policy and therefore he and the police thought Jenny was behind the attempts on his life. Gus was stunned. Steve went onto tell how upset and angry this made and as a result what a horrible week he had endured. Then he told Gus about his sighting of Jenny and his failed pursuit and how he had spent an hour this morning looking for her.

“That’s incredible!” Exclaimed Gus. “You’re sure Jenny’s capable of such skulduggery?”

“I would’ve thought not, but I don’t have any other explanation.”

“It certainly has some logic it to it. I’m really sorry for you Steve.”

“That’s Ok. It’s not your fault. You know before I discovered the insurance policy, things seemed to be improving. I made intentions to be a great Dad, to be confident, positive and abundant and I felt I was gaining momentum, but I just feel mired in this mess and things just seems to get worse!”

“So what have your intentions and expectations been?”

“Nothing. I’ve done nothing.”

“Nothing?” Questioned Gus.

Well I was just so angry and overwhelmed that I sort of forgot about it.

“See all that anger and duress just puts you back into you old habitual way of handling things.”

“Huh.” Grunted Steve.

“When things go wrong how do think you normally respond.”

“I think I kind pull my head in and try struggle and hope goes away.”

“You avoid taking action or maybe looking for a positive action.”

“Yep.”

“Do you think this is the best way to go about it?”

“Nope. Yeah, I can see that I probably tried to “think what I want” and intend, but I was just burning with anger and resentment to what she tried to do to me.”

“That’s fair enough, but do you think maybe it’s time try and move on again?”

“Yeah. I think so. I must admit that I felt better after driving around this morning. That’s when I had a feeling that I should come and see you.”

“And you managed to find me as well!”

“Well, I think I was following my intuition.”

“You certainly were! See your anger subsided when you were driving. That allowed greater awareness of you feelings which gave you guidance to come to this garden!”

“Amazing!”

“That’s why I meditate. It helps me manage my negative feelings. Then I find I am more intuitive, responsive and creative. I find it really helps me.”

“Great!”

“So what do you think you need to do now?’

“Mmm. I intend to be positive and resilient. How’s that?”

“Good! Can you do better?”

“I think so. How about......I expect to have a great week!”

“Excellent! You know if you stay calm, not mired in anger and resentment and can focus on the things you want, only god things can happen.”

“I understand that, but the things I believe Jenny has done to me, makes it hard for me not to be consumed by anger. You know I don't know whether I can ever forgive her.”

“That all makes sense. But it's not really about forgiveness. The sort of behaviour we are talking about isn't really reconcilable or justifiable.”

“No, they're are not.”

“It's about freeing yourself of the constraint of your negative feelings, because hanging onto those feelings will hold you in that place. You remember that we've talked about like attracting like?”

“Sure do.”

“So if you carry all that angst and ire around with you, what sort of things are you going to attract into your life?”

“Lot's of negative stuff.”

“Exactly! If you're constantly thinking about feeling angry and being negativity, you effectively block your desires from your life!”

“That's a “Wow!” Exclaimed Steve.

“So go for a walk. Go do an exercise class. Try some Yoga. Go for bike ride.”

“Go and meditate!” Chimed in Steve.

“Go and meditate. Take some deep breaths “Think what you want” and have a better life!”

“Yep! That's a wow Gus.”

“So you don't need to absolve Jenny of all things she's done, just don't fume in hate and resentment all day, because it will limit the life you can live.”

“I can see that. I'll try. It might not be easy, but I'll d my best.”

That's the spirit. You'll see. Your life will improve.”

“It would want to.” Chuckled Steve.

“Yeah. You're right. It would want to!” Agreed Gus.

“You know Gus. I always feel better after talking to you. You help me make sense of all the mess in my life.”

“Thank you. I'm glad I can be of help.”

“Well on that note I think it's my turn to disappear. Got to go and get the kids breakfast.”

“That sounds like a plan!”

Steve reached out and shook Gus's hand.”

“Bye.” Said Steve.

“Bye.” Replied Gus and Steve walked out of the Japanese Garden.

Radical Attraction - A Law of Attraction Story

Chapter 8

Radical Attraction is a novel of a Steve's adventures which involve in the visitation of difficulty and disaster.

In this chapter Steve gets into "Intending" and "Expectation" to create his desired life, but an exepcted discovery rocks his world.

Enjoy!

Steve felt energised and excited after his meeting with Gus. With a spring in his step he went back to his car. Whilst he walked, he pulled out his phone and looked through the intentions he had entered in his phone on Saturday. Reading the list empowered him and made him feel good. Reaching the car, he got in and made his way through the traffic towards work. As he drove his mind raced through Gus’s second stage.

“Expectation! Yes! What am I expecting?”

Steve’s thoughts then moved back to the intention list in his phone.

“I intend to be a great Dad. What am I expecting? I am expecting…….I am expecting a struggle with money and giving the kids enough time. I am expecting difficult times with Stephanie and Joel missing the presence of their mother.”

“Hmmm.” Steve could see that his expectations were not alignment with his desire to be a great Dad.

“Think what I want.” He said to himself as looked to modify his expectations so that they better reflected his desires.

He shuffled ides around in his head. Finally he came up with. “I expect to have great times with my kids, enjoying my time with them and having fun.  I expect an easy flow of money. Yep. That’s better!”

Good feelings filled his body as he focussed on visions of him enjoying hanging with his kids and him having enough money to do lots of great things.

At a set of traffic lights he looked at the next intention on the list.

“I intend to be happy and positive.”

What was he expecting?

“I am expecting…….worry and stress. I am expecting struggle.”

Once again he looked to change his expectations so they better reflected his desires.

He said to himself. “Think what I want.”

“I expect good times as I rebuild my life.” He continued. “I expect to be calm and positive. Yep! That’s it!”

He enjoyed the calmness and confidence that came with these thoughts.

Next. “I intend to be prosperous and abundant. What am I expecting?”

“Mmmm.” Steve’s mind filled with all the anguish and difficult times that he had had because of money and not being able to buy the things Jenny wanted.

“No! Think what I want! Think what I want!. He persisted. “I expect success in my work. I expect to always enough money to pay all the bills and do all the things wanted. I expect to refurbish and renovate the house. I expect to take the kids on an overseas holiday. I expect to look after my Mum.”

Once he started it was hard to stop, as lots of great expectations filled his mind, stimulating positive and uplifting feelings.

He continued to work through his intentions list and before he knew it he was rolling into the car park at work.

Everybody was surprised but pleased to see him at work and they were full of questions about the trail of destruction that had made a swathe through his life. He received a hearty handshake from his boss, George, who was very interested in his wellbeing, to the point of ushering into his office for half hour chat over a cup of coffee. They discussed his safety, the kids, Jenny and what the company could do for Steve in his time of need.  Steve appreciated all the attention, but he told George that he just wanted to get on with job and do his very best. Walking from George’s he made his way back to desk, which had a stack of messages awaiting his attention.

He went to begin to work his way through the messages but stopped to think.

“Think what I want. Ok. What do I intend?”

Once again he referred to his phone list.

“Well…. I intend to excel in my work.”

He felt the positive momentum of this thought and how good it would feel to excel.

“Expectation?  I expect to make great sales. “

He could see himself writing up contracts for a bunch of new customers. He felt
energised and enthusiastic. He picked up the phone and started making calls.

He worked his way through a mixture of calls that included people who were concerned for his safety, service issues, technical questions and two prospective new customers confirming they’d like to sign up and one of his best customers calling with a great sales lead. Magic!

The morning flew by and in the afternoon he went out to do some sales calls and sign up the two new customers. A very pleasurable afternoon it was. On the way home he dropped off at Joy’s to see the Joel and Stephanie. They had had a good day at school and were very pleased to see him. Joy offered steak and salad for dinner, which he gently decline, as wanted to get home and see if there was any work needed on the fire damage to make safe.

Kissing the kids goodbye Steve made for home. Stopping the car in front of the gates that led to the garage, he jumped out, collected a stack of mail from the letterbox opened the gates and resuming the driver’s seat, he drove the car into the garage. Once inside the house he sorted through the mail, which consisted of a mix junk mail, bills and a statement from the bank.

He opened the  bank statement and stared at the litany of withdrawals and charges, which were the evidence of Jenny plundering their finances. He shook his head and swore under his breath at the brazenness of Jenny’s thievery.

There was one letter left, addressed to Jenny, which bore a logo that he didn’t recognise. It said CRU Insurance. He scratched his head. He was sure he didn’t have a policy with them. After the mess that the bank statement detailed, he didn’t feel a shred of guilt as he tore open the envelope and removed the contents.  He unfolded the parchment paper it contained and just about fell over when he read it. It stated:

This confirms the insuring of the life of:

Steve Watkins

Insured Amount $5,000,000

“What!” He read down further.

Beneficiary:

Jenny Watkins

He couldn’t believe his eyes. Did this mean what he thought this meant? Anger surged through his body. Was his wife Jenny the mastermind behind the four attempts on his life?

It couldn’t be true. It just couldn’t! How could someone with whom he spent 15 years of his life be behind attempts to kill him?

He sat on a chair, put his head in his hands and sobbed.

Steve was so devastated he couldn’t contemplate dinner. The planned work on the house was scrapped and he spent a fitful night attempting to workout what to do.

In the morning he headed for the refuge of Phi’s “Spotted Dog Café”, where he imbibed three of the strongest coffees that Phi could extract from his espresso machine. Steve still didn’t feel much for food, but as the caffeine surged through his body he began to gather some composure and decide what he should do.

Phi was concerned with how Steve looked and was even more worried he refused one of Phi’s famous breakfasts. Steve wasn’t ready to talk to anybody about his fateful discovery the previous evening, but realised he probably needed to go and see the detective who was handling the arson case for his house.

He let work know, that yet again, he would be late for work. At the police station, they called the detective down from his office. Soon they were in a meeting room where Steve explained what he found, handing over to Senior Detective Jones.

As he read the document his eyebrows raised.

“Well this is something!” He exclaimed. “It looks like your wife had $5,000,000 good reasons to want you dead Steve.”

“I know. That’s what I thought.” Replied Steve. “I just can’t believe it. I can’t believe she’d do such a thing.” And he shook his head.

“I know it’s hard to believe. She didn’t tell you about this policy did she Steve?”

“No.”

“And it is an unusually large amount to insure your life for?”

“Yeah, it is.”

“So we can only assume it was part of a plot.”

“I just can’t believe it.” Steve muttered again, shaking his head.

“So what do we do now?”

“Well I think we’re going to have to issue a warrant for her arrest. Have you got a photo of her?”

Steve hunted through his wallet and pulled out the snap of Jenny that he always carried and hand handed it over to Senior Detective Jones. He gave it a quick glance and placed in a folder that he had brought with.

“Have you got any idea where she might be.”

Steve shook his head. “None. I cam home on Friday and she had taken everything that wasn’t nailed down. She’d been through our bank accounts and credit cards and basically left me and the kids with nothing!”

“Wow!” Exclaimed the detective. “And not satisfied with that, she’s tried to have you killed! Amazing! People always seem to be able to find a way to shock you.”

“Yeah.” Agreed Steve.

“Ok Mr. Watkins. Leave it with us and we’ll do our best. Have you got one of my cards?”

Steve confirmed that he had. They exchanged goodbyes and then Steve trudged out to the car still wrestling with the fact that his wife was a potential murderer and he was the target!

The day dragged on from here. He went to the office, but the magical occurrences of the previous day had evaporated and he became bogged down in what seemed a never ending of customer issues and problems. At the end of the day he escaped the office feeling beaten and bloody. He went to Joys for dinner with the kids but did not breathe a word of their murderous mother.

Radical Attraction - A Law of Attraction Story

Radical Attraction is a novel of a Steve's adventures which involve in the visitation of difficulty and disaster.

In this chapter Steve "Thinks what he wants." And Gus reveals his second secret.

Chapter 7

Steve pulled into the driveway of the house. It was about 9-30 Pm when Steve arrived home from Joy’s, having shared dinner with her and the kids, before putting Stephanie and Joel to bed. The house was dark but it was easy to see the charred scars up the side of the house and the police had left their mark, “decorating “ the front yard with copious amounts of crime scene tape.

The day at Puffing Billy had been a great escape, but arriving back at the house, he landed back to earth with a thud. He became overwhelmed by the occurrences of the last few days and as he flopped in front of the new TV with a beer, he wondered how the hell he was going to get out of this. A fleeing wife, who had done her best to put him into poverty and a crazy assassin who wasn’t very good at his job! What the hell! How was he going to live with his kids and sanity intact!

So pervasive were these negatives feelings that he just wanted to curl up in the foetal position and forget about it all. He succumb to a second beer in the hope it might encourage sleep he finally dragged himself to bed around 11-30Pm and he gave into to the emotional exhaustion and had a fitful nights sleep.

In the morning Steve arose, not feeling particularly rested or invigorated. Even after some toast and some very strong coffee, he didn’t feel very well equipped to face the day. As he started the ignition he had that funny persistent feeling that he had experienced a couple of days previous. So instead of heading for the office he once again headed for the park in what seemed to becoming a habit. As he got closer to the park he felt a little pang of anticipation of what might be ahead of him. Once at the park he made a quick call to his boss, explaining that  once again disaster had entered his life and made an excuse that he had to go and make a statement to the police before coming to work. To himself, he wondered how long they would be patient about all these interruptions to his to his work.

He strolled into the park and made for the number one bench. It was vacant, so Steve settled his ample posterior on the teak bench, enjoying the sunshine and morning performance of the ducks and swans. He hoped Gus would arrive, but minutes pasted and he became anxious about when Gus would arrive. Maybe the feelings he had felt were wrong. He was being so stupid, believing that such feelings could be a guide to what he should do. The thoughts and feelings went round and round as he progressively beat up on himself. Becoming increasingly distressed by all these negative feelings he finally rejected the place he had gotten himself to and thought:

“Think what I want.”

In his minds eye he saw Gus strolling into the park in his adventurous sartorial splendour. He felt relief from all the stressful feelings he allowed himself to reguurgitate. He thought of how he had enjoyed their previous chats and how much fun it had been. The revellery he was enjoying was suddenly interrupted by:

“Good morning!”

It was Gus!

“I thought I’d meet you here.” Began Gus.

“Well isn’t that strange, because I had a really strong feeling that I would meet you here! I was going to work when I felt I had to come here! “

“So you followed your feelings.”

“I guess I did.”

“Good. So what do you think this is pointing to.”

“I don’t know.” Replied Steve. “I guess I wanted someone to talk to. You wouldn’t know Gus, but someone tried to burn my house down on Saturday night!”

“O my God. That’s terrible. But I’m afraid that doesn’t surprise me. I had a really strong feeling I needed to be here this morning. I feel terribly for you Steve. Another attempt on your life just seems outrageous. If it weren’t so serious, it would be laughable. What are the police saying?”

“They’re as dumbfounded as I am, but they’re taking it all very seriously now. My kids are staying with their grandmother until we can sort things out.”

“That’s good.”

“Yeah, but it’s pretty tough on them.”

“No doubt! I’m sure they’d want to be with they’re Dad. “

“Yeah. But we had a great day out yesterday. We all had a lot of fun and I think that has helped heaps.”

“Good! How did you go with my first stage, “Intending”?”

“Good! I’ve intended lots of things!”

Steve explained to Gus about how he “intended” great things for his life and described how empowered and good it made him feel.  He went onto described how he also intended when he was overcome by negative feelings and this enabled to stay on the path that he desired.

“That’s great! Feeling good is very important. It shows you are in alignment with their higher self.”

“Alignment?”

“Another way to put it is that our feeling your feelings are your compass.”

“A compass? How?”

“Well your feelings point you in the direction of your better life.”

“Really?”

“Well it makes sense really. Good feelings indicate wellness and happiness and you’d have to agree that these are keys goals of life.”

“Yep I’d have to agree with that!”

“So if your good feeling intentions are pointing to a place which brings you happiness and wellness life can only bring positive things into your life.”

“I get that! Brilliant!”

“ So maybe you’re ready for the next step.”

“Ok. Sounds good! I’m ready.”

“So the second stage of creating is ‘Expectation’.”

“Expectation?” Replied Steve who was somewhat confused. “How does that work?”

“Ok. When we are intending we are announcing our desires. Right?”

“Right!”

“So when we are  “intending” we are in essence asking for our desires.”

“Ok.” Confirmed Steve.

“By moving to “Expectation”, we are moving to a position of receiving our desires.”

“Right….” Steve was uncertain about this progression.

“So let me explain it like this. Say you intend to get a new giant TV. Ok. What are the normal types of thoughts that you might have about getting this TV?” Begins Gus.

“I might think that it’s too expensive and I can’t afford it. That’s it is a silly idea and a waste of money.”

“So all you thoughts are about reasons why you can’t get the TV. Right?”

“Right!”

“So what are you expecting? Are you expecting to get a new TV?”

“No. I am thinking there’s no way I can get a big TV.”

“Right! So you are expecting failure. Right.”

“Right!”

“And do you think is likely to be the path to success?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Are you thinking what we want?”

“No. We’re thinking of what we don’t want.” A light seemed to on in Steve’s head.

“If you remember when we talked about the Law of Attraction and like attracting like? What are these thoughts likely to create?”

“They’re going to keep you separated form the TV because all I am finding is reasons for not having the TV!” Exclaimed Steve. It was like an epiphany.

“So after we “intend” we need to pay attention our “Expectations”. Are we expecting our desired to be fulfilled or are we expecting failure.  Are we wishing and hoping that in spite of our negative expectations, our desires will some how be fulfilled?” Gus continued to explain.

“Magic!”

“It can be like magic. So what type of thoughts do you think you might need to hold to achieve your big TV?”

“Ah. You might think about going to the electrical store and choosing one.”

“Good. What else?”

“You could think about how it would look in your living room.”

“Yep. And it you are thinking these thoughts focus on the feelings you would have when you’re watching your favourite program on this great new TV.”

“So you have to think and feel that you have it and not think about how come you don’t have it!” Spurted Steve.

“You’re a genius!”  Responded Gus. “Fantastic!”

A broad grin spread across Steve’s face as he felt the glow of success.

“Go to the top of the class Steve. I really think you’re getting the hang of this. Ok. You’re going well. So what was one of the things you intended?”

“Umm……I intended to be prosperous and abundant.”

“Oh good. The easy ones first.” Said Gus sarcastically. “What sort of expectations do you think you need to hold to create this in your life? So I expect to…”

“Umm….I expect to do well at work. No…….I expect to excel in my work.”

“Good.”

“How about I expect to make great sales?”

“Yep, ok. What do you feel about money, because this is always the tricky one.”

“ I expect to have lots of money…..No. No. I expect to receive a steady stream of large sums of money!”

“There’s no holding you back, is there?” Chuckled Gus.

“Well if you’re going to go for it, then you might as go for gold!”

“Fair enough.” Replied Gus. “What else?”

“I expect happiness and joy!”

“Excellent! This is very important, because real happiness doesn't come through money alone.” Advised Gus.

“ So true.” Agreed Steve. “But a lot of people think it does.”

“Ok. So now you know the second step. You can’t just ask for your desires through intending. You also have to expect to receive your desires. You can’t desire something and hold expectations that you won’t receive it, because the chances that you will receive will become very low.”

“ But what if it seems there is little chance of your desire happening. I mean what if there seems there is no logic to it happening. What do you do?”

“Well this is where you have to be a little illogical. If you always defer to logic, the only things you can create are bound by so called logic. You can only receive those things that by reason seem possible. But if you want to receive the amazing you have to expect the amazing.”

“Wow!” Gasped Steve.

“What we are aiming for here is almost magic. Things that aren’t supported by logic or reason. Things that are not bound by the limitations of our thought, but instead, thoughts that represent infinite possibilities.”

“Double wow! “ Exclaimed Steve.

“So there maybe times that you may have to suspend your belief. Put aside reason and logic. It can feel a little weird and silly and our open up to the infinite possibilities of your imagination.”

“Amazing! That is deep Gus. That is really deep!”

“I guess it is deep, but it is important to open up to our greatest dreams and desires so that we can have the best possible lives.”

“You’re right! That’s what we should all desire! The best possible life.”

“That is the truth of it.” Agreed Gus.

“So I need to ask for my desires by intending. Then I need to build my ability to receive by building my expectations!”

“Spot on Steve!” Laughed Gus. “You’re starting to start to sound like me!”

“Thankyou very much. Now I guess you’re going to disappear on me?”

“You are starting to know me as well! Yes. It’s time for me to go. I hope I helped you today.”

“Yeah. You’ve helped me heaps, thanks.”

“That’s great. I’m sure I will see you very soon. Cheerio!”

And with that, Gus disappeared around the tree that sheltered the number park bench and was gone.

Radical Attraction - A Law of Attraction Story

Radical Attraction is a novel of a Steve's adventures which involve in the visitation of difficulty and disaster.

In this episode Steve continues to work at getting his life back on track and starts to explore Gus's mysterious system. It looks  like it's onwards and upwards!

Chapter 6

Steve headed back to the car the ducks were still in full voice. Starting the car, he pointed  it in the direction of the local electrical store so he could buy all the things on his list.

The salesman thought it has lucky day as Steve went round the store selecting all the things on his list. Curious as to why Steve was buying so much stuff, he was shocked when learned it was Steve’s destroyed car on the news the previous night.

“I think you need every bit of help you can get!” He announced as he totalled up Steve’s invoice. “I’ll give you some extra discount. The boss won’t like, but you need al the help you can get!”

“Great!” Thought Steve as he headed around to the loading dock to pick up his stuff. He could hardly believe the deal he had just been given!

Heading back home. After making a call to his Mum to make sure everything was OK with her and the kids. He confirmed he would pick up Joel for his basketball game at
2-00pm and he settled into unloading the electrical goods followed by hand me downs from his Mum. With in a couple hours the house was started to look like a home again. Surveying the fruits of his labour, Steve felt a pang of satisfaction.

Locking the house he connected the trailer back up to the car so he could take it back to Mike. Arriving at Mike’s, the house looked eerie and he swore that he saw the curtains move as though some was watching him. Thinking he was becoming paranoid, he disregarded it and disconnected the trailer and put it back on the lawn where it back where he had a found it.

“Now to the supermarket and get some food.”

As he drove he began to think about the “mysterious” Gus had talked about.

“What do I intend?”

For a while he thought about this.

What did he intend?

“I intend to be a great Dad.”

“Yep.” He thought. ”That’s important to me.”

“I intend to be happy and positive.”

He started to get into a groove.

“Yep. That’s important too.”

Steve noticed how good these intentions made him feel and how they to seemed to give a positive direction and a feeling of forward momentum.

“I intend to be wealthy…No…I intend to have lots of money…No ……I intend to be  prosperous and abundant...Yes, yes...I intend to be prosperous and abundant!”

Moving on.

“I intend to do well in my job….No….I intend to excel in my work!….Yes that’s it.”

Then.

“I intend to be paid well for my work…No, no.. .I intend to be highly paid for my work….. Yes that’s it! I intend to be highly paid for my work!”

“I intend to find new friends…No, no…I intend to have great friendships….Yep. Want to have lot’s of great friends.”

“I intend to be a good person…No….I intend to have a great life. Yes! I intend to have a great life!”

These thoughts both buoyed and empowered Steve and made him feel really good, even after the terrible events of the last couple of days.

Before he knew it, he had reached the supermarket. He pulled into the car park, quickly finding a spot near the door. Entering, he grabbed a trolley and went about loading it with groceries for him and the kids for the next week. He enjoyed the freedom of being able to select the foods that Jenny wouldn’t let him buy, because she didn’t like them. Man’s food! A celery free zone! Yeah! Soon he had enough and headed towards the cash register. Paying with cash, he exited to the car park and loaded the groceries into the car and headed home.

As he packed the groceries away in the kitchen cupboards, he continued to think,

“I intend to be trim, fit and healthy. Definitely! Maybe I should have bought the celery.”

“I intend to be strong at this time. Yep.”

“I intend be the best person I can be! Oh yes!”

Steve was enjoying himself intending great things into his life. It was becoming a game and it was fun.

“Maybe I should write them down. No I’m going to put them in my phone!” He thought.
Knowing he wasn’t the best at putting pen paper. So he fired up the kettle he had just purchased and made himself a sandwich whilst he waited for the kettle to boil. Once it was bubbling, he made some coffee and settled in keying his intentions into his phone so he could review them anytime.

Feeling quite chuffed with himself, he packed everything up, locked the house and headed off to pick up the kids to take them to Joel’s basketball game.

Life was starting to feel a little more normal as he and Stephanie enjoyed watching Joel’s team eek out a 34 to 26 victory in what was a hard fought game. Then it was off to Dolce’ Dominica’s, the best gelati shop in town, for a victory cone. The kids both opted for the double chocolate option whilst Steve had his favourite French vanilla and blood orange

As they sat out the front of the ice cream shop, Joel and Stephanie asked him about Jenny. They wanted to know where she was, why she had left and were they ever going to see her again?  They were really worried about what was going to happen?

These were hard questions and Steve had to be honest and say he didn’t know all the answers. He did tell them that he loved them and he would do his very best to sort things out. They seem to accept this well enough.

Once the ice cream was expertly consumed, they headed back to his Mum’s house. He had decided the kids should stay with her one more night. Then they could come home and settle in.

Joy, his mum, was pleased to see them and very happy that Joel had had a win. It was fine with her for the kids to stay one more night and suggested they have a BBQ for dinner. The weather was good and so it was a good opportunity to enjoy it.

Soon, Steve had fired up the BBQ and began cooking the sausages, kebabs, chops and his favourite ribs. Joy made salads and baked potatoes and it wasn’t long before they were sitting at Joy’s outside dining setting, thoroughly enjoying the spread of food. Steve ate a little more than he should because it was so delicious. He was starting to feel a little more relaxed about his predicament and was beginning to feel optimistic that he could make a go of looking after the kids by himself. Whilst he and Joy washed the dishes together, they talked about the logistics of getting the kids to and from school and to the after school activities they had. Joy had told him she was happy to help out wherever she was needed and had told Steve that it was important to her that kids did not suffer.

When all the cleaning up was done they sat to watch  “Toy Story 3” on DVD that Joy had rented. They all laughed together and enjoyed themselves as life’s troubles drifted away and some normality started to appear. Then kids went to bed. Steve kissed them goodnight, kissed his Mum good night and went home and flopped into bed, tired from a busy but successful day.

He awoke. Startled by the sound of a tin can hitting the pavement. He rubbed his eyes and saw that the clock radio was saying it was 2-43. Then he heard the side gate rattle and he bolted from his bed. He ran down the hall and grabbed for the light switch next to the door. As it clicked it down, he could see the glow of all the lights outside going on through the window.  He fumbled with the deadlock of the front. Finally he got the chain to slide off. He turned the handle of the lock and charged outside.

His eyes were met by the glare of flames flickering up the side of the house. Then he heard the scuttle of feet running up the road, followed by the slamming of a car door and the screech of tires, as a car roared of into the darkness. Steve shook his head, trying to clear the sleepiness from his head. He could see flames licking up the side of the house were now reaching the guttering. The acrid smell of burning paint and wood tore at his lungs causing him to cough and splutter. He put his hand over his mouth and nose and ran to the tap. Grabbing the coiled garden hose that was lying on the ground, he screwed the tap to maximum and started spraying the base of the flames, which were growing in intensity.

All of sudden another spout of water joined Steve’s next door neighbour also trained his garden hose on the flickering flames. Yells filled the air as people from the surrounding houses spilled out onto the street to see what all the commotion was about. Then a wail of sirens could be heard after someone had alerted the fire brigade. Soon the flickering of the blue and red lights from the fire trucks reflected off the surrounding houses creating an eerie sight.

Steve and Tom had done a great job restricting the penetration of the flames on the house. Very quickly the fireman unfurled their hoses and trained two intense streams of water onto the house. Steve and Tom stood back as the experts quickly extinguished the remaining flames.

Once the smoke had cleared, a large black scar could be seen up the side of the house. As Steve thanked the fireman for their quick action, they told him it was quite apparent that an accelerant such as petrol had been used to start the fire. The police soon also arrived on the scene. Once they realised that Steve was also the subject of the car bombing the day before, their concern increased, suggesting that Steve might want to move elsewhere for his own safety. After making a statement and answering the polices questions, Steve decided he would stay for there rest of the night, as there would be police stationed there until the arson squad arrived in the morning.

It was 5Am before all the excitement died down and Steve trudged inside to catch a couple hours of sleep, unable to believe that another attack had been on his life. Whoever it was very persistent but not very effective!

At around 8Am he woke feeling groggy and very uptight. He headed for the shower where he spent a good 20 minutes waking up and enjoying the massaging of the hot jets of water. After drying himself, he dressed in the first jeans and t-shirt that he encountered in the wardrobe and went outside to check out the damage to the house. As he made his way outside the two policemen who were on duty, nodded their acknowledgement to him.

The air was still thick with the acrid smell of smoke. The right hand side of the house was charred but the damaged seem superficial and Steve counted himself to be very lucky to still have a house. A feeling of paranoia was building within in Steve as he wondered where this was all going to end. The police had offered little advice other than to be careful, which Steve thought wasn’t very original.

After spending about 20 minutes looking at the damage, he decided he’d head over to his Mum’s to let her know what happened, before she saw it on the news. Steve told the policeman where he was going, reversed the car out of the garage and made his way to Joy’s.

Gus’s advice rung in his head. “Think you want.”

But his nerves were jangled at this stage, it was difficult to envisage his desires because of stress and fear that emanated from someone making a fourth attempt on his life.

He tried a different tack. “What do intend?”

He started….

“I intend to be…..I intend to be ….calm?…Yep. I intend to be calm!”

“I intend to be positive. Certainly. I intend to be calm and positive. That’s it!”

It was funny how just making this intention made Steve feel alot better.

“I intend to build a great new life.”

“I intend to be happy!”

Now he felt really good!

Joy was surprised to see him so early on a Sunday. But her face filled with the lines of worry and shock as Steve recounted the events of last night. She begged him not to go back. Whilst she made him some breakfast and a strong coffee, they discussed what to tell the kids. They decided it would be best they stay with Joy for time being and Joy finally relented on Steve staying the house. He told his Mum he believed that who ever it was that was wreaking havoc with his life, wouldn’t dare to have another attempt to burn down the house. Especially now that the police said they would be patrolling the street very regularly.

Not long after, Stephanie and Joel woke up and came into the kitchen looking for breakfast. Steve told them as gently as he could what had happened at the house and that were now going to stay and Joy’s for a while until things settled down.

The kids were stunned by the story and were disappointed they couldn‘t go home, even though they did enjoy being at Joy’s. To overcome the gloom that had settled upon, Steve suggested they go out for the day. They all agreed that a ride on “Puffing Billy”, the steam train that runs up in the hills outside the city, would be the best things to do.

When Joy and the kids were ready they all jumped into the car and set course for the little trains station an hours drive away. The sun shone and everything was set for a fun day.
The little station from where the steam train departed was nestled in a valley among some gum trees, presenting a very pretty setting. The platform was teeming with people waiting to catch the little train, which took a winding and hilly route through beautiful scenery.

This train ride had always been one of the kid’s favourite treats and todays ride proved to be no different.  They hung their legs out of the open carriages and waved at all the people they passed at the level crossings and houses that dotted along the route. When they arrived back at the station after three hours of fun, Stephanie and Joel hassled their father for an ice cream cone. Joy volunteered to pay and so for the second time in two days they munched on delicious cones before returning home from a day where they had forgotten about the dramas that had visited their lives.
